so far

(At 12 weeks, 3 days)
Baby A: 6.04 cm
Baby B: 5.83 cm
Baby C: 6.54 cm

The girls are calling Baby C Chancho because s/he's the biggest. They were calling him Chancho when he was a millimeter bigger, though. It's fun to say Chancho.

Things are going well. I have had some pretty bad days with throwing up, but Zofran works for that. I'm tired of eating all the time, but there's nothing I can do about that. It is what it is. I've gained 15 pounds already. Usually at this point I've lost weight, but for a triplet pregnancy it's very good to have gained the weight. I'll probably put on another 40-50 pounds. David's hoping I pass him up, so I'll weigh more than him. I'm not so anxious for that day, but I do want each of the babies to be a healthy weight.

I'm still in a bit of shock about three babies. I'm not quite sure how it's all going to work out, but it will. (Right?)

  1. Of course it will all work out. Not much you can do about it if it doesn't. :)

I just really can't imagine the logistics of dealing with three babies at once. Well, I suppose I can, after working in an orphanage...

I can't even imagine three babies all at once! Fortunately they don't stay babies for long though!

Three. Has it really sunk in yet? Do either of you guys have a family history of triplets? We've had an epidemic of twins around us lately (3 different friends in a 10 month period had twins!)and I have to say, I'm always a little jealous...

  4. You are the best parents! You'll do great with three! And it sounds like Chancho can be a little helper, right?

Remember, when your babies come you won't be feeling like you're feeling now. Everything seems impossible when you're throwing up and nauseas all the time! But, when the babies come you'll be tired, but healthy. You really will do great!! Don't worry.

Weight doesn't mean the same thing when you're pregnant. Especially when you are pregnant with three. Just eat whatever you can keep down and let your body do it's thing. It will snap right back when the sweet things are born.

    Aren't I advice-y today?

  5. No way. 3. That is impressive. I can't even take care of myself.

  6. Amira,
From what I've read, the three things that triplet parents hear the most are:
    1) They're triplets! (obvious)
    2) Better you than me! (rude)
    3) I couldn't do that.

Except, what are you going to do instead? Give them away? If we can get past the pregnancy and birth with no problems (or few problems), I'm sure it will work out in one form or another. I just don't know how much sleep I will get.

    Susan,
Yes, I'd rather have one baby at a time myself. After struggling with secondary infertility, I am glad there's more than one because they'll have close siblings. The baby phase doesn't last long, but the toddler phase scares me, too! (One thing at a time, though).

    Gabby,
It hasn't sunk in yet. I don't know that it really will until they are here. I do have a family history of twins, but these little guys are here thanks to fertility treatment (3 out of 4 sets of triplets are).

    Tina,
Love all the advice! I don't know about my body snapping right back (although I am looking forward to being able to forget to eat every once in a while), but that just can't be my concern right now.

    Shea,
Thanks for stopping by. When my nausea has lifted, I'll have to check out all the jokes I'm missing on your blog.

  7. Wow! How totally cool for you! I'm so excited for you!!!!!

I've never had triplets, but I have had twins and a 2 year old, all in diapers. It was OK. It was tiring, but OH SO WORTH IT! Yes, people will be rude, and they won't understand how you're doing it, but you'll make it :-)

    Hugs all around!
